Students love our debate unit, and they find it difficult to get heard as 6th graders. I would like to start a podcast completely run by middle schoolers that discuss current events, school events, books, and so on on a podcast. Community members would have access to the podcast, as well as the school. Students could learn how to create a podcast. Students also have a passion for reading and reading outside of their comfort zone. Having students do a class novel really helps them to understand the reading better. They can make inferences based off of pictures and can continue that in other reading. Anya's Ghost has a lot to offer students because it is based on a girl around their age who struggles to fit in.
