As a new professional in the field of speech language pathology, my supply closet and my material shelves are looking at bit empty compared to those more seasoned SLPs in the field. I am a big proponent of hands-on work. I like to try my best to stay away from worksheets and busy work and focus on activities that will help my students transfer the skills they learn in my classroom out into the real world. While I like to believe I am pretty resourceful in working with "what I've got", I can only begin to imagine the possibilities for future speech therapy sessions, given some of the materials on my list such as sight words and write and wipe pockets. My project "wish list" consists of some supplies for the classroom and some language-based materials created by Lakeshore. These items are things I had access to while working in the speech and language clinic in graduate school. I am familiar with these materials and how to (creatively) use them for far more than just what they were created for.
