Sensory tools to allow the students with whom I work to access and participate in educational opportunities. This project focuses on specific sensory items that will be used in Sensory Tool Kits during social work services and in the classroom. Examples of sensory tools include therapeutic putty, kinetic sand, pencils with pencil grips, and stress balls. When using sensory tools, students can release energy, stress and anxiety in appropriate ways within the classroom. From seating to hand-held manipulative tools, students benefit from movement opportunities to help them focus. Students receive instruction on how to use sensory tools in the classroom and how these tools may help with self-regulation. Students learn to self-advocate by asking to use items from Sensory tool Kits.
