Every quarter my students are allowed to read books of their own choosing in order to do a fun project that showcases their reading experience. To foster an enthusiasm for reading, I begin every class with silent sustained reading that our English Department calls Carpe Librum, and I take that time to read along with them. In order to spark their interest in reading, I want to provide easy access to a wide range of titles. Books give students a world to discover and explore and introduces them to vast personalities and experiences. They can find a voice that finally understands them or find a world they can get lost in. Students can discover all possibilities in books.
