Headphones are required at each student computer as they work through a reading program. Each students' learning is uniquely individualized according to their reading level. These headphones are critically necessary because students need to hear portions of the lessons. Our ELL students need to hear translations. All need to hear instruction. Sound is a part of the program. Our headphones were destroyed during Hurricane Harvey and replaced with some cheap ones that are not holding up and do not work very well. I need to know that each student will have the necessary equipment to fully benefit from this reading program. Even when they are in an area of their lesson that does not require headphones, having them on keeps them focuses and avoids distraction.
