At-risk students no longer need to be restricted by their unfortunate circumstances. Many students who are considered at-risk come from single-parent homes, non-native English speaking families, and/or poverty-stricken neighborhoods, etc. Most at-risk students lack the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed as a result of their limited access to technology. Technology, such as: laptops, computers, iPads, etc., are in high demand in schools because staff and administrators have come to realize that access to these items is a gateway to success. Hence, the determination to start the 'At-risk of Success!' project. By providing these laptop devices for students, it will enhance student engagement, increase academic grades, heighten student interest (because they love technology when they have access to it) and it will also allow teachers to lead students to a path of success. The use of technology piques students' interests and motivates them to learn and contribute their ideas in the classroom. It also equips them with research and communicative skills necessary to become successful adults in their communities. Granting at-risk students the same accessibility to technology as students who are not at-risk will help to close the learning gap and promote higher levels of success across the board.
