This project will allow students a hands-on opportunity with dissection. Most of my students have never taken part in a real dissection and only dream of a chance like this. This project would introduce students to basic mammalian anatomy through dissection of the fetal pig. I teach in an under-served community where most of my students are minorities. I believe a project like this would give them a better view of the mammalian body. I also believe it would get more of my students invested in this thing that we call Science. Science is a thing I’ve grown to love through books but even more so through experimentation, dissections, and all the hands-on experiences that I could get. By supporting this project, you will be enriching the learning of future doctors, forensic pathologists, and scientists. You will be doing this by allowing students to participate in a meaningful exploration of basic mammalian anatomy.
