I'll never forget, it was my 3rd year teaching and Thanksgiving break was right around the corner. I asked one of my students if he had any plans for the holiday. He informed me his family didn't do anything special for holidays. He then politely asked me the same question in return. I told him about how my family, immediate and some extended, always come together at my parent's house and share in Thanksgiving dinner. I'll never forget his response, "What's it like to have dinner as a family?" His question struck a chord in my heart. I cannot recall my response, but ever since that day, it has been on my heart and mind to find a way to share meals with my "family" of students at least once a month in my classroom during the school year. I'm requesting supplies that will allow me to provide meals without needing a kitchen; therefore, I am asking for an instant pot (for chili's, soups, etc.), an electric skillet (for scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, etc.), plates, bowls, cutlery, and napkins for serving, and a foldable table and tablecloth for the food to be served.
