As we enter our character \study unit for Reader's Workshop, my students are making some book requests. Many of my students are reading below grade level, so it is crucial that they have direct access to books they enjoy. Many of my students' families can not afford books. Many of my students' families work several jobs, leaving very little time for library visits. Our school library is only staffed once or twice a week, so my students rely on our classroom library. I want to get them excited about reading so that they are meeting or exceeding grade level reading expectations when they enter high school.
