As a speech and language pathologist, I work with a variety of students with communication challenges. Some have autism while others demonstrate social thinking challenges related to ADD. Many have difficulty with receptive and expressive language skills while some are challenged in the area of speech production or fluency. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is a common thread among all of these students. Research has shown that teaching competency in SEL skills provides positive benefits that have a ripple effect and can lead to positive outcomes in other areas of a student's life. It is my hope to promote the growth and development of social-emotional skills among these students to enhance their peer relationships and quality of life.
