We need a few extra items this year to help keep our students engaged, organized, and socially distant! Predictable environments are essential for our students' social-emotional well-being, especially considering that I am speaking to them in a language they do not yet understand. By having more organization, students will feel more secure and confident in our classroom. Not only will this help them develop healthy learning habits, but it will also help them focus more on their French vocabulary. For example, if the students have a clearly marked place to put all of their folders and papers each week, less papers will go missing. If the students have a sensory tool with them in the hallway, they are more likely to keep their hands to themselves and respect the rules of social distancing. There is a lot of change happening this year for both the students and the adults, but with more organization and classroom resources we can make the classroom a predictable and safe space.
