I believe that my students will achieve their reading goals that they have set for themselves this year with a variety of leveled readers in the classroom library. I chose higher leveled books for the children so that they will be able to choose from different books as their reading levels increase throughout the year. The big books, like Gingerbread Boy and Rainbow Fish allow me to show and teach the different strategies of reading from a text that is large enough for all the children to see.
I also believe that young children need hands on materials to explore; which is why I have chosen math manipulatives that allow their minds to explore. While I pull small groups the other children will have the opportunity to be independent learners and strengthen their math and reading skills. The magna tiles and stem activities are hands-on, fun and really let the students guide their own thinking.
My classroom will also benefit from the storage organizer to allow these materials easily accessible for the children.
