For English Language Learners (ESL) learning and communication isn't easy. It is a process in which the students learn elements such as vocabulary, phonics, grammar, and writing. The first and often longest phase is "the silent period," when the student takes in the new language but does not speak it. This period lasts weeks to months, depending on the individual. We need four iPads which will allow us to use apps to help these students communicate with other students, focus on individual needs to acquire English, and allow my other students to use apps for remediation and enrichment with their own academic needs. Thank you for taking the time to learn about my little first graders!
