Students are expected to take on more responsibility and difficult tasks as they are beginning to transition from an early childhood classroom. We do our best to get them up and moving, but much of the work load by 3rd grade requires sitting down at their desks. By giving students the option to be comfortable while working, we help them to focus on the task at hand without distracting others. Students who are given the chance to use the type of seat that is best for them are more engaged, and more likely to give their best effort! I have seen students who used to struggle, begin to strive just by using a simple wobble cushion, yoga ball, or a lap desk.
