Our class will use the plant growing stand and all other necessary components (lights, seedling trays, and pan trays) to grow seeds. Students will be responsible for caring for their project by planting, watering, and providing appropriate lighting for their seeds. They will study, observe, create hypotheses, and collect data on the process in their science journals. Once their seeds have grown they will replant them in the pans to give the roots room to expand. As the plants grow they will be able to utilize and share what they have grown. For example, using the leafy greens for a salad to contribute to their nutrition lessons. They could also give their flowers to their parents for special occasions like Mother's Day or plant them at the local church or in front of the school. Students will create an ownership of the learning and while doing this they will need aprons to keep them clean in the process.
