The notebooks requested in this project will be used on a daily basis to further the language acquisition and strengthen the writing/reading comprehension skill of my students. In many cases, the phrase "against all odds" is apt in describing the significant gains my students have made toward their goals of becoming proficient and adept readers and writers. For many of them, English is a second language. For others, barriers come in the form of additional responsibilities within the home that inflate the chances of not coming to school totally prepared each day. As they bridge the gap between primary and secondary education the skills these resources will help them hone and develop are exceptionally crucial. Providing the resources without burdening the family budget and organizing them within the framework of the classroom will ensure that my students make good on the promise that education can be the great equalizer and take some unnecessary stress off of their plate.
