As the first ever first grade at my school, we need the basics down to paper. Did I mention it's my first year of teaching too? With so many firsts, it is both exciting and nerve-racking. There is so much opportunity to be creative and create our own curriculum based off of what the students' interests are. However, we are starting from scratch and I only have so many resources to provide them with myself. I will be using these basic classroom materials to make learning as interactive as I can and to set a great foundation for the first graders to come. My students are already in love with learning, so I am not worried about that. I am excited to give them the knowledge that they want to share with the people in their life. The calendar I selected will be a great way to emphasize many of the math concepts we use throughout the year. The chalk will be used to track the sun using shadows! The whiteboards will be used to give the students another medium to create on and so much more!
