Learning together on a classroom rug for Math and Science is such an engaging process! This adds a change from the normal routine of working at their desks. Here, students can use manipulatives (instead of paper and pencil) to explore math and other STEM concepts. Manipulatives, like fraction dice, number of operations dice, and Building Math Skills Write & Wipe Boards, can be distributed quicker and easier since students are closer together allowing us more time to practice and learn our STEM concepts. Being on a rug encourages all students to be actively working, since it's easier to see and check that all students are on task, while being able to support those who may be in need of support. Working on a rug, also encourages a community feeling, where students are either seated around the rug, or in their designated spots together.
