Teaching at a charter high school in California is quite a unique experience. My students are not only inspired to attend college, but many of them are applying to the best programs in the country. They aspire to become scientists, doctors and engineers. However, the biggest challenge that I have as an 11th grade teacher is to prepare my students for the SAT biology subject test. This test is required in order to apply to the top colleges in the country. And while my school has a program to prepare students for the SAT there is no effort to prepare students for the SAT II, a test that is equally important for college admission. My students are incredibly motivated to take this test and to succeed. And, with a bit of help, I know they will attain their goal.
