Our students are racially diverse, talented, active, vibrant, stellar, adventurous, athletic, inquisitive, outgoing, fun and energetic individuals. They enjoy social networking, and want healthy, meaningful relationships with their peers and family. They are looking for their role and purpose in life. A significant number of students live in economically depressed communities. My students are also survivors, who at times exhibit recurrent anger, fear, and depression from the after effects of Hurricane Katrina. As a result, they often look to the Social Worker for assistance. Our school, is a beautiful, newly constructed 2010 state-of-the art tech high school. The teachers and support staff are professionals who want each student to succeed. Every student has a laptop computer for classwork. We have drama, chess, football, basketball, speech, volleyball, debate, choir, recycling and other fun extra curricular activities. It is a beacon light to the students and the community.
