My students are going to be experiencing an extra science class this year to make learning more hands on and applicable to future careers. I am teaching them concepts about flight. Through the use of the balsa wood planes, the students will be able to gain a love of flight and will be able to both scientifically and mathematically explain what is happening with flight at their level. 4th graders are naturally curious and will enjoy being able to fly their own balsa wood plane. They will also take these planes home so they can share their learning with their families and community.
