With this project I am hoping to increase my students literacy by keeping them engaged in reading. I want to create a collection that is organized by genre and topic so students can easily peruse books to find ones that pique their interest. With the white board and hanging basket I am hoping to create a reading graffiti wall where students can share passages from books that resonated with them with their classmates to serve as a sort of literacy forum. This will be a springboard for discussions and book recommendations. The collection of books chosen includes a wide range of stories from a variety of genres. I am hoping to bring in more works from women and people of color for my young readers as I believe strongly in the power of representation for young minds.
