By donating to this project you will allow the students build their fluency skills by using the listening station, gain independence by learning to care for books that they choose and expose them to the nonfiction genre. Using the cassette player and headphones, hearing a book read on tape can help children focus on the sounds of words read without interruption and provides a model of fluent reading. Many books on tape have interesting sound effects, music, and multiple narrators that are especially motivating and fun for young children. Students will also grow in their understanding of the nonfiction genre with the new books and cds. Also students will feel ownership and pride in having their own book pouches to store their independent reading books each week after book shopping in the classroom library. By donating to the purchase of these materials will allow my readers to grow!
