My classroom has lab desks where 4 students are seated to work collaboratively. Having a couch in my classroom will make sure students have a learning space where they feel comfortable to be able to work individually or in small groups. Motivation is a huge factor in classroom learning; specially for my 7th graders. So giving them a personal space or the flexibility to work in an environment that gives them a choice as well as voice would be a plus.
The classroom design influences student behavior and work ethic. This flexibility will help me meet all my students' needs with varied learning styles- visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactical; as well as having different grouping assignments- heterogeneous, homegeneous and mixed depending upon their needs.
The need of a color printer in my classroom is very high. For every copy to be made, they have to be either first printed out or transferred to flash drive; before they can be taken to copy room to make copies. Some times as teachers, we end up going multiple times to the copy room, just to find that you have to wait as there are others before you. Color copies also gives a new enthusiasm to my Science classroom activities, as I feel some of the labs/hands-on become more livid and real life when they are shown in the original natural color.
