By having a small collection of devices in my classroom, I will be able to allow those students who don't have their own device to also enjoy some of the apps that we are using and activities that we are doing without having to look over someone else's shoulders. It breaks my heart that there are some students whose parents cannot afford devices for their children, and I want their children to feel included when they come to my classroom. There are many times when I ask students to use their devices to do research, or to go to a particular interactive website like Kahoot! to help review for a test. On these days, those students who don't have their own devices usually partner up with those who do, which of course helps to strengthen our classroom community. It's great to see students sharing and learning with each other. However, I would love for those who don't have devices to just be able to quietly go to the storage cabinet in our classroom and grab a device to use so they can be included too! Our Fire tablets will be used for various activities and apps, such as Quizlet, IXL, Spotify and Pandora so students can listen to music from various countries we are studying, Brainpop, QR codes and so many other exciting options. I am so excited to provide my students with an opportunity to expand their learning through the use of technology.
