I am hoping to introduce the wonderful novel, "The One and Only Ivan," in order to teach perspective to my students. I feel a though this novel sheds light on change, perspective, struggle, perseverance, relationships, and joy. The novels currently available to me are outdated, worn, or limited. I feel as though my students will connect to "The One and Only Ivan" and will find value in its story. I hope my students will be able to read and enjoy this novel while learning various literary devices and narrative elements. I am hoping that by implementing more current and relevant novels, my students will be more excited and ready to read.
