The requested materials will enable my students to continue phonics and writing. Students in my classroom are motivated to write when I provide special pencils, crayons, and a writing journal. The increased ownership of their written voice leads to maintaining and improving basic writing skills. Recently students have practiced letter and sound blending skills through daily narrative journal writing. When students see their ideas in writing, they want more writing time and ask for extra days in writer's workshop. On their own, students have created a dance to celebrate the beginning of writing time. Your donation my project will help my students continue to practice their writing skills but also increase the chances of combating the summer slide.
