The school that I am working for has a population of about 1,000 plus students who have a lack of English Proficiency and live in a household with low income. Although we have a literacy lab with many good resources for the teachers to use with their students, there were times where things became unavailable. Therefore, if Donors Choose can help donating these resources, my students will be assure to have resources available for them to use. My main focus for my students is to help them to become a strong reader and writer. The majority of these students don't have the resources available at home to help them. Both parents and students can only rely on what can be provided at school. With the books and comprehension skills kits that I ordered, I can use them in my everyday small groups to help these students become successful. Despise the fact whether some of my students are just learning to read or that they are reading to learn, they all love to read about animals and important people in history and then share with you what they learn and discover! I am using the comprehension kits and the National Geographic books to help my students dig deeper into reading by comparing/contrast, stating the main idea and details, identifying cause and effect, etc. With a goal in mind, I will try my best as their teacher to help them become a confident reader and writer!
