I have long taught yoga and mindfulness to kids. When these activities are coupled with other rich social emotional learning opportunities, children learn skills that are essential for self regulation. With the resources from this project, the students in my classroom will learn how to empathize, how to rise up and lift others, how to work together, how to practice the art of self love and love for all. Your donations for this project will help children see themselves as agents of change. This project will get books that illustrating and exemplifying powerful people of color into a classroom primarily populated by children of color. Girls will see themselves in texts about inspiring women and boys will see themselves in texts about inspiring men. My students will see that, not only does their work matter to our classroom, but that their work matters to the world.
