Not all students can focus, be engaged and learn the same way. Giving children the opportunity to choose a work space that will benefit them is important. Flexible seating allows students the opportunity to decide where to sit. Some students may choose to sit on a wobble seat at a table to help them focus, whether it is during a whole class lesson, or when they are working in small groups or on an individual project. Others find it more comfortable to sit on the rug and use a lap desk while they write or use a laptop. Other need more movement and find that using a bouncy seat helps them focus. Using a variety of seating options will allow my students the ability to focus more and be engaged, whether they work together in partners, small groups, or individually.
