It is our mission as educators to keep education relevant and engaging. Technology is at the core of this mission. In efforts to foster the development of eager 21st-century learners, my students must have access to technology. Chromebooks are perhaps the most affordable and accessible tool for students to utilize when engaging with online intervention systems. Programs such as Dreambox and RazKids provide students unparalleled opportunities to grapple with kid-friendly and standards-based lessons and materials. However, my students are unable to utilize the aforementioned programs due to having only two iPads in the classroom. In addition to accessing research-based online intervention programs and resources, students will also develop crucial learning skills by having the ability to tap into virtual libraries and informative databases. Students can take control of their own learning and research topics of interest. The ability to research allows students to become autonomous learners and take accountability for their learning.
