Lifelong physical activity and health are an integral component of my Middle School Physical Education Program. Every day, the students strive to improve their overall health. Obesity is a large part of our society with fast-food restaurants on every corner begging us to drive through and eat on the run. In our fast paced lifestyle, my goal is to educate students on how to combat the disease using lifelong and health related activities. One way for me to accomplish this is to have students work in small squads to develop fitness and nutritional goals using the necessary tools to assist in improving their overall health. By using stopwatches, pedometers, flexor measuring board, etc., they will be able to accomplish this. The materials I requested will enable the students to do just this, by focusing on the components of fitness directly related to heart and lung function, especially learning how to monitor heart rate in relationship to physical activity.
