I am excited to implement a new concept in my first grade classroom this year, "Good Morning Bins". Materials such as linking cubes or geometric learning boards can help students work together to build designs which will help them with social interaction and how to compromise with one another while trying different approaches to creating designs. My hope is to have my students have the opportunity to choose different engaging activities to get them motivated for the school day. The bins will consist of materials that require cooperative interactions, help with fine motor skills and allow students to be creative by building things with hands-on materials and objects. These activities will also reinforce concepts and standards taught throughout the day. I teach students that have diverse backgrounds and I believe that all students deserve the opportunity to be creative and what better time than the beginning of their school day!
