My students are enthusiastic and hard working 10th and 11th graders attending a small, public school in Brooklyn, New York. I remember what it was like to sit in class after class, all day long. It was not always easy to focus. Nowadays with the additional distraction of cell phones, having a class full of engaged students is not an easy task. On a day to day basis, I do everything I can to ensure that my classroom is a place where students are motivated to learn and don't become bored. Through extensive planning and creativity, I strive to have activities that will "catch" my students from the moment they walk in. A traditional textbook, lecture, and rows of seats are no longer good enough. Incorporating art, music, current events, films, puzzles, games, and other activities are some of the ways that I ensure that my room is not your average foreign language class.
