The use of calculators are an integral part of high school mathematics. A lot of my students rely on their phones as a source of computation, however, it is not allowed on any of their End of Course exams. When those students receive their exam they either do not have a calculator or do not know how to manipulate its functions to perform their best on End of Course exams. It is imperative to expose students to the proper materials early on to increase the amount of time students have spent with those materials and so that they feel comfortable using them.
