With the return of in-person learning, many students and families are excited (and anxious)! COVID-19 cases involving children are rising due to the Delta variant. My school is practicing universal masking and I am keeping the windows open all day, but these air filters will serve as extra layer of protection for me and my students against the airborne virus. A John Hopkins study found that HEPA filters were responsible for a 65% drop in COVID-19 transmission. Another study found that one HEPA filter is as effective as two windows partly open during the winter (Your local epidemiologist). For some students, this has been their first return to the school since March 2020. I want to take any and all steps to help ease their nerves and help them feel as safe as they are at home while in my classroom.
