At my Title I school, my students often ask for/need some nutrition to help with focus. They often feel hungry, and this distracts them from their studies. I have requested a refrigerator and microwave for our classroom so we can have nutritional food in our class for my students. In such a large school, lunch lines can be long and students can miss out on socialization opportunities due to waiting in line for most of their break. Out staff open their rooms to kids at lunch, and often we are the only way they can heat up food, meet with friends and have a safe place to take a break. We also can save on trips to the health center for medicine and ice packs by having these tools in the classroom. The refrigerator and microwave would help my students function!
