My amazing, active, enthusiastic 5 year old students come to school excited to participate in the writing process and become authors of their own books. The overwhelming majority of my students have never attended preschool. They come to school with little experience holding a pencil, drawing a picture or socializing with peers their own age outside of their own family. I work with a very diverse group which includes second-language learners, dependents of active military, and students from low socioeconomic status. I am so proud of my students. They come to school every day eager to master kindergarten standards.
