Through this project, I hope to provide my students with the opportunity to make decisions on how and where they can be most academically successful through flexible seating. Research has shown that providing flexible seating and places for students to complete their work increases their engagement in the classroom. By allowing flexible seating, my students will be able to learn and decide what they need in order to do their best learning. Instead of having to leave the classroom to have some body regulation so that they can refocus, my students will be use the flexible seating solutions to stay in the classroom and be engaged in learning. The kids will get their wiggles out by sitting in a wobble chair and still be focused and engaged in their task or they can collaborate with other students by using a lap desk or on a floor rocker. I am teaching my students to advocate for their learning needs and want this to be a skill they will have for life.
