I'm always looking to add more books to our classroom library. With the honoring of the summer events and the continual discussions on race, I realized that I needed to provide a wider variety of stories for my students in our classroom library. I have created a booklist of both read-aloud books and novels that represent the characters' experiences with race, gender identity, religion, and the need for accepting others. My goal is to provide students a lot of books with perspectives from different characters and help encourage discussions. I know these topics are on their mind and having books in the classroom will help guide those discussions.
