My project allows for the creation of a safe, supportive, counseling space for students. In this space, we will have the opportunity to address the mental health issues that prevent my students from reaching their highest potential. Anti-anxiety toys and fidgets such as timers, squishy toys, water beads and others will allow students to focus on talking about difficult issues. Games like cards, mindfulness and choices in a jar will provide a fun and safe way to identify and discuss feelings. The books will provide additional resources for individual and group activities. The goal is to have this space available them as they need it and for pre-scheduled individual and group counseling sessions. By creating a space that allows students to deal with their feelings, they can then be better equipped to learn and thrive.
