According to an article written by Wendy Ramirez of California State University, research strongly suggests that implementing a writer's workshop with a publishing component increases student motivation. My students will strive to perfect their writing skills as they prepare to publish their own classroom writing pieces. Writing can seem boring as a 3rd grader until you realize that you are creating a masterpiece! My 3rd graders will be eager to type out their written work and format it on the iPad. Then they will enjoy printing finished works that they can take pride in and show off around the school and at home. The iPads and printer will also be utilized in science centers for creating science brochures.
