Teaching remedial reading and dyslexia causes me to stretch as a teach to help meet so many needs. One area of struggle for middle grade readers is attention span. Research shows that providing learners with a variety of seating options help to create an optimal learning environment by helping keep students focused. By proving places to stand, instead of sit, wobble seats, and ball chairs as well as bar tables as stools, students have choice and comfort. A lot of choice in seating also helps keep students focused because they can wiggle and move in appropriate ways. I would like for my classroom to be a place students enjoy being because they fit and are comfortable.
