Flexible seating will allow students to make decisions about how they individually learn. When students have the option of sitting on a standard school chair, wobble stool, or stay in place ball chair, they take the initiative to choose what works best for them. I have seen the engagement and academic performance of students improve when they have the option of actively moving their bodies during rigorous math instruction. This seating will allow students to appropriately wiggle and move to help them focus on their indoor school work. My students are enthusiastic and engaged learners who wish to participate in creating the kind of world and community they wish to see. When we respect them and meet their needs in the classroom, they respond by respecting learning and their classroom community.
