By having a leveled books classroom library, students will learn how to choose their own "good fit book" to read independently. Having the higher levels available allows for the to challenge themselves and having the lower or "mastered" levels allows them to become the "teacher". We are creating a classroom out of the "Art" room due to large class sizes, so the environment is quite different than that of a regular kindergarten classroom. Although I am an experienced teacher, I am just starting at this school and have no materials. A classroom library is a vital part of teaching literacy.
