My students are just like any other teenager, they work hard, they goof off, they talk, they sit quietly, they make good choices, they make poor choices, they fall in love and they experience heartbreak. The only difference is that due to the family they were born into, they are predominantly poor, come from broken homes and lack the resources and support that are frequently found in more affluent districts (my high school has about 90% free or reduced lunch). They have dreams and they want to be successful but they have a lot of obstacles to overcome in order to do so.

About my class
