My students are fortunate enough to have access to an online enrichment program designed to target their specific area of struggle. Students watch videos and complete interactive lessons on the program using laptops. The issue? Everyone's video playing out loud at the same time. My students would benefit from the focus they would receive by using headphones while completing their enrichment program. Music is food for the soul. The ability to listen to their own music while completing independent work also allows them to take some control over their learning, which fosters independence and self-regulation. When not using laptops, students annotate stories to help them analyze texts. However, due to limited space, their books are filled up before they can get to the next annotation activity. Post-its allow more space for annotations and more resources to check for understanding.
