It is truly exciting to see how my students hunger for more information, beyond what the social studies and science curriculum offer. This year, our district has adopted a new Language Arts program that effectively allows for deeper learning opportunities in Social Studies and Science through fiction and non-fiction resources. This further ignites the student's natural curiosity in the topics that we study in the sciences. My students would greatly benefit from having access to recommended trade books that are not provided with the adopted curriculum, which would help make the desired connections that the students are eager to gain. By putting these books in the hands of the students, it is further fostering a curiosity in the world around them, helping to make concrete connections, and fulfilling their love of learning.
