My classroom uses graphing calculators in nearly every class period, every day, so we go through batteries relatively quickly. Keeping charged calculators allows my students to run statistical analysis, graph quadratic functions, create scatterplots, and so much more! Additionally (pun intended), these calculators have a larger screen to allow for students to look back at previous answers when working on lengthy problems. Giving my students more time with graphing calculators will better prepare them to be successful on standardized tests such as the ACT and SAT. These rechargeable batteries and charing unit are wonderful because they will not only save my school (and myself) from constantly spending money on new batteries, but it also helps to reduce our classroom's ecological footprint through reduction of hazardous battery waste. Allowing my students the opportunity to accustom themselves to graphing calculators and more technology in the classroom allows them to be more prepared in an increasingly tech-focused world. Batteries may not seem the most exciting but they sure will em"power" my students (and their calculators)!
