The project is to have a Calm Down Corner in my counseling office. I currently work with students in 3rd-5th grade as well as students in our special needs units. The corner will give students the ability to express their feelings in a safe comfortable environment. Little kids have a lot of emotions inside them and at times deal with big problems and challenges. I would like to provide them with a space in which they feel comfortable to relax and talk to me to learn to deal with emotions. My students need a place to come to and sit while in my counseling office. Currently I have one round table with hard wooden chairs which do not provide a warm, nurturing environment where students can de-stress. Students will use the space to talk, write, read, color and use the fidget/focus toys. These supplies will help students return to their classrooms and be able to focus on learning. Please help my students have a space to work through issues from home and school!
